No cookies, no tracking

This site sets no cookies. It uses no analytics, no tracking pixels, no embedded maps and no third-party scripts. Nothing you do on these pages is recorded or shared, and no consent banner is needed because there is nothing to consent to.

What is collected

Only what you send me. If you email or call, that means your name, your email address or phone number, and whatever you choose to include about the job: drawings, dimensions, build-ups, photographs, addresses and any correspondence that follows.

I do not buy contact details, and I do not collect anything about you in the background.

Why it is held

To quote for the work, to produce and check your calculations, to answer any queries Building Control raise afterwards, and to keep the records an engineering practice is expected to keep.

How long it is kept

Enquiries that do not become jobs are kept for 7 years, then deleted. Files for completed jobs, including the calculations and the correspondence around them, are kept for 15 years from completion. Structural work can be questioned long after a project is signed off, and that period covers the time in which a claim can realistically be brought, so the records are what allow the design to be re-issued or defended. After that they are deleted.

Who else sees it

Nobody, other than where you have asked me to send calculations directly to your Building Control body or Approved Inspector. Your files are not sold, shared or used for marketing.

Asking for a copy or deletion

Email [email protected] and ask. You can ask what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted, and I will do it within one month. Where a job is still open, or where I need the record to defend a possible claim about work I have designed, I may keep it for the period above; I will tell you exactly what I am keeping and why.
