No cookies, no tracking

This site sets no cookies. It uses no analytics, no tracking pixels, no embedded maps and no third-party scripts. Nothing you do on these pages is recorded or shared, and no consent banner is needed because there is nothing to consent to.

What is collected

Only what you send me. If you email or call, that means your name, your email address or phone number, and whatever you choose to include about the job: drawings, dimensions, build-ups, photographs, addresses and any correspondence that follows.

I do not buy contact lists. I do collect published business contact details to tell firms about this service; that is described in the section on business contact details below.

Why it is held

To quote for the work, to produce and check your calculations, to answer any queries Building Control raise afterwards, and to keep the records an engineering practice is expected to keep.

How long it is kept

Enquiries that do not become jobs are kept for 7 years, then deleted. Files for completed jobs, including the calculations and the correspondence around them, are kept for 15 years from completion. Structural work can be questioned long after a project is signed off, and that period covers the time in which a claim can realistically be brought, so the records are what allow the design to be re-issued or defended. After that they are deleted.

Who else sees it

Nobody, other than where you have asked me to send calculations directly to your Building Control body or Approved Inspector. Your files are not sold or shared. Business contact details held for outreach are described in the section below.

Business contact details we hold for outreach

What. Firm name, business address, business phone number, the email address the firm publishes, its website, and a named contact where the firm's own site names one.

Where it came from. The firm's Google Maps business listing and its own website, both public. They are collected by an automated tool, Apify, acting on my instructions as a processor. The records are held in Airtable and Google Workspace, also processors.

Why. Legitimate interests: telling small architectural practices and builders about a fixed-price beam calculation service. The assessment is on file and available on request.

Who is emailed. Companies and LLPs only, under the corporate-subscriber rules in the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. Sole traders and partnerships are not cold-emailed.

How long. If we never hear back, 24 months from collection, then deleted. If you opt out, your email address stays on a do-not-contact list indefinitely so you are not contacted again by mistake; the rest is deleted when our outreach records are retired, or sooner if you ask.

Your rights. Object at any time: use the unsubscribe link in any email, or reply saying so, and nothing further is needed. You can ask for a copy of what is held, or for it to be deleted; the do-not-contact record is the one thing kept, and I will say so. Email jack@beamcalcsdirect.co.uk; I answer within one month.
